#MOMMYHacks

3amigos

The other day I was talking with one of my husband’s college buddies and we were reflecting on the good ol days .. ya know before dirty thirty .. actually somewhere between 22-27 years old were the really great years. As we chatted we realized that all we really did when we were young, single, and without kids was: Wake up, go to work (or in my case school), come home and go out EVERY DAY (and night).

Maybe we hit a party, happy hour, or a friend’s place, but overall, we basically socialized and had very little responsibility for anything except for ourselves. We enjoyed life like it was golden and were so thankful that we could wake up every day and do the same thing repeatedly, night after night. I mean isn’t that what all 20-something’s do when they live in NYC? Ah yeah!

Well my friends, those days are gone! That harsh reality has sunk in. Huge sigh as I pour out a little liquor for the homies (and wild times) that are no more. Grown up life is here now, that reality has sunk in!

It did so a few years ago when I realized I don’t need an alarm clock to get up on weekends; because around 5:50 AM I have my own organic all natural alarm clock. Every Saturday and Sunday I am awakened by the stark shrill of a toddler screaming my name over and over in a piercingly high voice that gets louder as if he thinks I didn’t hear him the first 20 times he shrieked, beckoning me to his room because he wants milk and to watch Ninja Turtles. OMG, times have changed…

To address these changes, and how I best deal with them, I’m introducing a new series of blog posts, vlogs, tips and advice I’m calling: #MOMMYHacks! I’ll also be sharing some of my favorite items to “get us through” – through the day, week or just through life in general. If you’re a mom you know there are three things you need from anything you buy for your home and family: You need them to be:

  • Accessible – Ain’t nobody got time to wait longer than Prime delivery would take!
  • Affordable – No explanation necessary ladies. I don’t buy hot off the runway fresh to def Celine bags like I used to, do you?
  • Useful – We all have enough things stored away from toys to clothes (just in case we have another child) so we can’t afford to “save” anything else or collect more products unless they’re really useful and worth it.

I’ll be dedicating plenty of these posts to products and life hacks that REALLY WORK and tick those three boxes. These are all things I love or a wise ol’ grandma has gifted down to me – that are 100% AAU – accessible, affordable, and useful!

I hope you enjoy my tips, tricks and finds, and try them yourself. I encourage you to reach out and let me know what you think or share your own #MOMMYHacks that are 100% AAU, because ya’ know raising a child takes a village … and we are all in this village together!
